Banana slices 100 g
Freeze-dried banana that never turns brown or soft. Ripe and sweet, full of vitamins and minerals.
Have you run out of bananas? Or forgotten to eat one when it was still fresh and you don’t like it overripe? It’s time to try freeze-dried banana slices.
Freeze-dried bananas are harvested at just the right moment. Neither unripe, nor overripe. That’s why they taste so sweet and smell nice. Freeze-drying removes water, but nothing else – all the vitamins and minerals are 100% preserved, just as they are in fresh fruit. Excellent for satisfying your hunger thanks to the high fibre content.
Have you tried banana chips before but didn’t really like them? Freeze-dried banana slices are very different. Banana chips are usually fried, hard and full of sugar. Our freeze-dried banana slices, on the other hand, go through the process known as lyophilisation. The result are crispy and crunchy banana slices that just melt on the tongue. Without any added sugar or fat.
How can you enjoy freeze-dried bananas?
You can eat freeze-dried bananas as they are instead of a fresh banana. They can give you plenty of energy and nutrients at work, during sports and on hikes. Stir the freeze-dried banana slices into yoghurt or cereal; you can also blend them with milk for a delicious smoothie. You can use freeze-dried bananas instead of fresh ones in baking – for flavouring creams or decorating desserts.
Our tip
A banana is a healthy snack for our little ones, but all too often ends up mashed all over their backpacks. Try giving them freeze-dried banana for a school snack instead. It’s light and just as nutritious as fresh ones, but it definitely won’t go brown or soft.
Freeze-dried bananas are full of vitamins and minerals
- Freeze-dried bananas retain the vitamins and minerals contained in fresh fruit.
- The banana excels in its potassium content, which balances blood pressure.
- One banana contains about a third of the recommended daily dose of vitamin B6, which is essential for the nervous system.
- Bananas also contain vitamin C, magnesium, copper and manganese.
- The high fibre content of bananas contributes to proper bowel function.
What is freeze-drying?
Freeze-drying, or lyophilisation, takes place at a very low temperature and pressure. These conditions cause sublimation, a process in which water goes from a solid directly into a gaseous state. This means that water – and nothing else – evaporates from the fruit, which does not affect its nutritional value. Freeze-dried fruit does not lose any nutrients, vitamins or minerals. In addition, it retains its natural taste, aroma and colour and is almost indistinguishable from fresh fruit.
